Step 1: Find and Download the Mockup Template
Choose your favorite mockup and click the Download button.
(Example: https://mcdodesign.com/apple-watch-se-mockup/)
Locate the ZIP file in your 📁 Downloads folder.
Right-click on the ZIP file and select Extract All…
Move the PSD file to your preferred location.
Step 2: Open Your Mockup File
Launch Adobe Photoshop on your Windows PC.
Click File > Open… (or press Ctrl + O).
Locate and select the PSD mockup template you downloaded.
Click Open to load it into Photoshop.
Step 3: Find the Smart Object Layer
Open the Layers Panel (Press F7 if you don’t see it, or go to Window > Layers).
Look for the 🔲 Smart Object layer, usually labeled: “Your Design Here” or “Replace Here”
The Smart Object has a small page-within-a-page icon in the corner of its thumbnail.
Step 4: Open the Smart Object
Double-click on the Smart Object thumbnail.
A new tab will open in Photoshop, where you can replace the placeholder design with your own.
Step 5: Add Your Design
Drag and drop your image (JPEG, PNG, AI, PSD, etc.) into the new Smart Object tab.
If needed, delete or hide the existing placeholder design.
Step 6: Adjust Your Design
Press Ctrl + T (Transform Tool) to resize and reposition your image.
Hold Shift while resizing to maintain proportions.
Once you’re happy with the placement, press Enter to apply the changes.
Step 7: Save the Changes
Go to File > Save (or press Ctrl + S).
Close the Smart Object tab (click the “X” in the tab).
Your design will automatically update in the main PSD mockup. 🎉
Step 8: Close the Smart Object Tab
Simply close the Smart Object tab, and your design will now appear in the mockup!
Step 9: Customize Your Mockup (Optional)
Now that your design is in place, you can further customize it:
🟩 Change Object Color: If the PSD allows, find the Color layer in the Layers Panel and adjust it to your desired shade.
⬛ Change Background: If the PSD allows, select the Background layer and change its color or replace it with another image.
Step 10: Save & Share!
Click File > Export > Save for Web (Legacy)…
Choose the format you need:
- PNG (for transparent backgrounds)
- JPEG (for high-quality images)
Click Save, choose a location, and give it a filename.
